Battle of Sudoku: A Multiplayer Sudoku Showdown!
Do you love Sudoku and crave a competitive edge? Battle of Sudoku is a multiplayer version where you face off against other players or teams. The goal remains the same: fill a 9x9 grid with digits so each column, row, and 3x3 subgrid contains all digits from 1 to 9.
Before the puzzle begins, you select a difficulty level (1-6, 1 being easiest, 6 hardest). This determines the number of pre-filled digits, providing a shared starting point for all players. Everyone receives the identical puzzle.
Two Game Modes:
- Show Opponent's Correct Numbers: Each correctly placed number is visible to all players, earning you points. You can't place a number already used by another player. Speed and accuracy are key!
- Hidden Correct Numbers: Players only see their own grid. This allows for multiple players to earn points for the same correct number.
Time Penalties: Incorrect numbers result in a time-out (configurable, default 30 seconds), preventing further actions while others continue.
Scoring: Correct numbers earn points based on difficulty level (higher level = more points per correct number). Incorrect numbers cost you half the points you'd have gained for a correct placement.
Winning the Game:
- Visible Numbers Mode: The game ends when the puzzle is completely solved. The player with the most points wins.
- Hidden Numbers Mode: The game concludes when ONE player solves the puzzle. While this player doesn't receive bonus points, others can still win by making fewer mistakes.
Team vs. Individual Play:
A team mode allows two teams to compete. Join a team (1 or 2), and if at least two players join, the team is formed. Points are pooled, and notes/colors are shared, enabling collaborative strategies.
Solving Tools:
A toolbar under the puzzle offers tools to aid your solving process:
- Pen Tool: Add notes (mini-numbers) to squares. Selecting a number already present removes it.
- Fill Mode: Change the background color of any square.
