How to Beat and Capture Quematrice In Monster Hunter Wilds
Conquering the fearsome Quematrice in *Monster Hunter Wilds* can feel daunting, especially with its fiery breath and penchant for stealing your hard-earned meat. But don't despair, fellow hunter! This guide will equip you with the knowledge to not only defeat but also capture this avian behemoth.

Weaknesses: Water
Resistances: N/A
Immunities: Sonic Bomb
The Quematrice, a giant, chicken-like monster reminiscent of a Cockatrice, prefers to unleash fiery breath rather than petrifying gazes—a welcome change! Its mid-size makes it vulnerable to most weapons, but its area-of-effect attacks might favor ranged weapons for less experienced hunters.
While its tail swipes and strikes can inflict damage, the most potent attack is its tail slam. This involves a dramatic upward swing followed by a powerful downward strike. Sidestepping or blocking effectively counters this move. However, its fire attacks are the real threat, dealing direct damage and inflicting burn, which drains your health and can even ignite the ground.
These fire attacks are less telegraphed. One involves a slight head rear and roar before a fiery blast from its tail. Another is a sweeping attack after a roar and head/tail raise, engulfing its surroundings in flames. It can also incorporate this into a charging attack, running towards you before a last-second fiery turn. For ranged hunters, retreating during this charge is your best defense.
How to Capture Quematrice in Monster Hunter Wilds
To capture the Quematrice, you'll need the right tools: a Shock Trap, a Pitfall Trap, and at least two Tranq Bombs. While one trap suffices, carrying a backup is crucial—a *Monster Hunter* staple—in case of escapes or unexpected interruptions.
Once the Quematrice is significantly weakened (limping, or observe the disappearing skull icon on the mini-map), lay a trap. Ideally, wait until it moves to a new area after limping away for easier capture. Place your trap, lure the Quematrice into it, and deploy two Tranq Bombs for a successful capture.
