Dota 2: Terrorblade Position 3 Build Guide
Quick Links
A few patches ago, selecting Terrorblade as an offlaner in Dota 2 was practically considered griefing. After a brief stint as a position 5 support, he seemed to vanish from the meta. While occasional appearances in the position 1 hard carry role in specific matchups persisted, he largely disappeared from the professional scene.
Today, however, Terrorblade enjoys a resurgence in popularity as a position 3 offlaner, particularly at high MMR. This guide explores what makes him effective in this role, the optimal item builds, and more.
Dota 2 Terrorblade Overview
Before delving into Terrorblade's offlane viability, let's examine the hero himself. Terrorblade is a melee agility hero with exceptional agility gain per level. Despite low strength and intelligence gains, his high agility provides substantial armor as he levels up, making him incredibly durable against physical damage in the late game.
He boasts above-average movement speed, facilitating efficient jungle farming between stacked camps to acquire essential items. His innate ability, Dark Unity, grants bonus damage to illusions within a certain range. He possesses three active skills and an ultimate.
A Quick Overview Of Terrorblade's Abilities
Terrorblade's Aghanim's Scepter and Shard upgrades are:
- Aghanim's Shard: Grants Demon Zeal, an ability that sacrifices a percentage of health for increased health regeneration, attack speed, and movement speed (usable only in melee form).
- Aghanim's Scepter: Grants Terror Wave, an ability that inflicts fear and deals damage, activating or extending Metamorphosis for 10 seconds.
Terrorblade also has two Facets:
- Condemned: Removes the health threshold for Sundered enemies.
- Soul Fragment: Conjure Image illusions always spawn at full health, but casting the ability costs additional health.
Position 3 Terrorblade Build Guide in Dota 2
Terrorblade's effectiveness in the offlane stems primarily from his Reflection ability. This low-mana, low-cooldown spell creates a damaging illusion of enemy heroes, potentially removing key carries from the fight.
However, his low health pool necessitates strategic itemization. Talent choices and ability prioritization are also crucial for maximizing his impact.
Facets, Talents, & Ability Order
For the offlane, the Condemned Facet is preferred, as it removes the health threshold for Sunder, making it a potentially devastating ability. A well-timed Sunder can eliminate even heavily farmed heroes.
Prioritize Reflection early for harassment and kill potential. Max it first, followed by Metamorphosis at level 2 for added kill threat, then Conjure Image at level 4. Obtain Sunder at level 6.
