Dynasty Warriors: Origins - How To Switch Characters
Quick Links
In Dynasty Warriors: Origins, you'll primarily take on the role of the Wanderer, striving to restore peace to the land. Throughout the main story, your choices will guide your journey, and you'll frequently be joined by companions who accompany you into battle. These companions not only stay by your side on the battlefield but can also be directly controlled by you, offering a powerful alternative to the Wanderer, even with his upgrades. Here's how you can switch characters to leverage their strengths.
How To Switch Characters In Dynasty Warriors: Origins
To switch to your companion and take direct control, you must be in a battle where a companion is present. Before the battle begins, during the war council, you'll have the option to choose your companion or opt to go solo. Once the battle starts, keep an eye on the bottom right of your screen, where you'll see your companion's health bar positioned just above your own.
Beneath their health bar, you'll notice a blue bar similar to your Musou bar. This companion's blue bar fills up as you engage in combat, with actions such as:
- Parrying attacks
- Perfect dodging
- Assaulting Officers
- Using Weapon Arts
Every combat action contributes to filling this bar, albeit at a slower pace.
When the blue bar reaches full capacity, a "Change Character" prompt will appear next to it. To switch characters, press and hold the designated button for about a second. On Xbox, this is the View Button; on PC, it's the C key; and on PlayStation, it's the Touchpad.
Playing As Other Characters In Dynasty Warriors: Origins
It's best to switch to another character during intense battles, as companions are exceptionally powerful. Once you take control, you'll have about a minute before the blue bar, which indicates your remaining time, starts to deplete. Your new character will come with full Bravery and a selection of potent combat arts to unleash.
Switching into a new character initiates a dramatic entrance with a powerful attack, so make sure to aim at an enemy to maximize impact. Additionally, your companion will have their own Musou bar and health bar, both fully charged, allowing you to deploy devastating special attacks against your foes.
