Hopetown, crafted by Longdue Games, introduces a compelling twist on narrative-driven RPGs. Founded by former employees of acclaimed studios like ZA/UM, Rockstar Games, and Bungie, Longdue Games has unveiled the first glimpse of Hopetown's innovative mechanics, setting it up as a spiritual successor to the beloved Disco Elysium. The storyline revolves around a journalist who wakes up in a mining town after a night of heavy drinking. Battling a throbbing hangover, players are tasked with reconstructing the events of the previous night and navigating an escalating local conflict. The choices made by players can either soothe or exacerbate the situation.

Screenshots indicate a game rich in dialogue, where player choices significantly steer the narrative's direction. Hopetown offers various archetypes, each providing distinct dialogue options and approaches during interactions. For instance, when conversing with an elderly woman feeding pigeons, players can choose different tones, which can drastically alter the conversation's outcome.

Longdue Games is gearing up to launch a Kickstarter campaign to support the project, with a dedicated page already live on the platform. Although no specific release date has been announced, excitement is mounting among fans of narrative-centric RPGs.

Hopetown is not the only game taking cues from Disco Elysium. Two other studios, Dark Math Games and Summer Eternal, are also developing their own psychological RPGs, adding to the growing genre inspired by the critically acclaimed title.
