Hyper Light Breaker: Unlocking New Weapons
Hyper Light Breaker boasts a diverse arsenal of weapons, and crafting a truly effective build hinges on securing a strong primary weapon. While you begin with basic equipment, the game offers ample opportunities to discover weapons perfectly tailored to your preferred playstyle.
Blending roguelike and extraction game elements, Hyper Light Breaker introduces a unique approach to weapon acquisition. Here's your guide to obtaining new weapons:
Where to Find New Weapons in Hyper Light Breaker

The most straightforward method for acquiring new gear is through exploration of Overgrowths. While exploring, you'll naturally uncover new items. However, to focus your search on weapons, look for sword or pistol icons on the map. These icons represent Blades (melee weapons) and Rails (ranged weapons) respectively.
Blades offer diverse movesets and special abilities, while Rails provide varying functionalities. Both weapon types come in different rarities, with gold being the most coveted. As expected, rarer weapons boast superior stats.
To store any weapon discovered in an Overgrowth for later use, press the Cache button instead of equipping it directly. You can then equip these cached weapons before starting your next run by adjusting your loadout at the Outpost.
Obtaining New Starting Weapons

Beyond finding weapons during runs, you can purchase new starting weapons from the merchants at the Cursed Outpost. Initially, only the Blades merchant will be available. To unlock the Rail merchant, you'll need to gather sufficient materials to repair their shop.
Merchants maintain a limited inventory. However, their stock replenishes over time. If you don't find anything suitable immediately, check back later for new offerings.
Upgrading Your Weapons

Weapon upgrades are available at the Outpost merchants, but you must first unlock the upgrade function by increasing your affinity with the merchants. This requires Golden Rations, a rare resource obtainable through exploration or by resetting cycles. Use your Golden Rations wisely, as they are difficult to acquire.
Important Note: Equipped weapons lose a segment of durability each time you die, represented by the bar beneath their icons. Repeated deaths will eventually break your weapons.
