Upgrade Guide: Staff of Ice in Black Ops 6 Zombies
The Staff of Ice stands out as an intriguing Wonder Weapon in *Call of Duty: Black Ops 6* Zombies. While its basic form may seem underwhelming, the upgraded version, Ull’s Arrow, becomes indispensable for tackling high rounds and completing main quest Easter eggs. Here's a comprehensive guide on how to upgrade the Staff of Ice in *Black Ops 6* Zombies.
Prerequisites for Upgrading the Staff of Ice in Black Ops 6 Zombies
To begin the upgrade process on The Tomb map, you'll need to meet two key prerequisites. First, you must acquire the Staff of Ice itself. This can be obtained from the Mystery Box or by assembling it from three parts scattered across the map.
The second prerequisite involves accessing the Dark Aether Nexus. To do this, ensure you open the Door to Nowhere as early as possible, allowing entry into the Dark Aether where most of the upgrade steps will take place.
How To Upgrade the Staff of Ice in Black Ops 6 Zombies
Step 1: Freeze Dark Aether Crystals
Begin the upgrade quest by targeting the Dark Aether Crystals within the lanterns found in the underground sections of The Tomb. These lanterns are easily identifiable by their black frames and glowing purple flames.
Your task is to freeze three of these crystals in quick succession using the Staff of Ice. To increase your chances of success, equip perks like Stamin-Up or PHD Flopper with the Tribologist Minor Augment to enhance your movement speed.
The strategic route you choose is crucial, as is managing the spawn points of the Dark Aether lanterns. Consider waiting a few rounds to optimize their locations for closer proximity. Start at the tomb area, then move to the Shrine of the Hierophants, and finally, the entrance to the Subterranean Temple. Ensure one of the lanterns near these locations is active, as the one near Quick Revive is too distant to reach in time. Upon successfully completing this step, you'll hear a quote from Archibald, signaling your readiness to proceed into the Dark Aether Nexus.
Step 2: Floating Rocks in the Dark Aether Nexus
Once in the Dark Aether Nexus, locate three floating rocks marked with glowing purple Runes, each bearing a unique symbol. These symbols may vary with each game, so make a note of them.
Use the Staff of Ice to shoot each Rune on the floating rocks. A successful hit will be confirmed by a hitmarker, causing the rock to descend and make the Rune more visible. A sniper rifle or a weapon with a medium to high zoom scope can aid in spotting these symbols more clearly. You can shoot these rocks in any order, but all three must be hit to progress.
Step 3: Rune Symbols Puzzle
After completing the second step, look for a stone wall that has replaced one of the portals back to the main map. Head to the corresponding area on the map where you'll find a wall adorned with several glowing Runic icons. Identify and shoot the three Runes that match the symbols you noted from the floating rocks.
Note that shooting the Runes will open the portal regardless of accuracy, but incorrect symbols will lead to an incorrect spawn and a fall from mid-air within the Dark Aether Nexus. Multiple failed attempts may require waiting for the next round before the stone wall reappears.
If you've shot the correct symbols, you'll find yourself on a floating rock in the Dark Aether Nexus, facing a purple orb. Interact with this orb to move on to the next step.
Step 4: Soul Chest Orb Escort
After interacting with the orb, it will begin to move. Your role is to follow it closely and eliminate zombies near it. The purple trail from the zombies' souls will fuel the orb's movement. Keep up an aggressive playstyle to ensure the orb reaches its destination at the center structure of the Dark Aether Nexus.
Once the orb settles within the structure, a small purple portal will appear. Interact with it to upgrade your Staff of Ice into Ull’s Arrow.
What Does the Upgraded Ice Staff Do in Black Ops 6 Zombies?
Ull’s Arrow retains the powerful abilities of its predecessor from the classic Origins map in *Black Ops 2* and *3*. It features a high-damage charge attack with an area of effect, as well as an alternate fire mode capable of reviving downed teammates.
And that's the complete process for upgrading the Staff of Ice in *Call of Duty: Black Ops 6* Zombies. Master these steps to wield the formidable Ull’s Arrow and dominate your gameplay.
*Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is available now on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC*
