Acquire the Type-40 Blade in NieR: Automata
In NieR:Automata, small swords boast fast attack speeds and narrow hitboxes, making them versatile weapons. While weapon upgrades enhance their effectiveness, powerful, upgradable finds like the Type-40 sword significantly boost character strength. However, obtaining the Type-40 requires completing a side quest chain. Here's how:
Acquiring the Type-40 Sword
The Type-40 Sword is the reward for completing "Find a Present," the final quest in a series involving Operator 6O. To unlock it, you must finish two preceding quests:
- Post-Chapter 5: After defeating Adam and Eve, Operator 6O contacts you with "Investigating Communications." Complete this immediately as it's easily missed.
- Chapter 6 & 7: Complete Chapter 6 (Forest Castle events) and begin Chapter 7. After speaking with Pascal about A2, explore the city ruins to receive another call from Operator 6O, initiating "Terminal Repairs."
- Continuing Chapter 7: Another call from Operator 6O mentions flowers, leading to a new message containing "Find a Present." Start this quest by interacting with the message.
- Reward: Completing "Find a Present" delivers the Type-40 Sword to your inbox.
Type-40 Sword Stats & Upgrades
At level 1, the Type-40 performs a 5-hit light attack combo and a 3-hit heavy attack combo. Upgrade it to level 4 using Titanium Alloy to achieve a 7-hit light attack combo and enhanced enemy stunning capabilities.
Additional "Find a Present" Rewards
Completing this quest also yields:
- A130: Bomb
- Amber x 4
- 5,000 G
- 800 EXP
