Amazon's God of War TV series, though yet to premiere, has already been secured for two seasons, as announced by showrunner Ronald D. Moore. Moore stepped in to helm the series following the exit of former showrunner Rafe Judkins and executive producers Hawk Ostby and Mark Fergus. In a candid discussion with Katee Sackhoff, a fellow alum from Battlestar Galactica, Moore shed light on his latest project.

"Right now, I'm working on an adaptation of, there's a video game called God of War, a big title in the gaming world that Amazon has ordered two seasons of and they've asked me to come in," Moore revealed. "So I'm literally in the writer's room, working on that. That's my new thing."

Despite not being a seasoned gamer, Moore finds enjoyment in classic games like Defender, Asteroids, and Centipede. He humorously recounted his struggles with modern gaming controls: "'Press R1.' Which one's R1? Oh, I'm dead," he said, illustrating his challenges in adapting to new technology.

For the God of War series, Moore takes on the multifaceted role of writer, executive producer, and showrunner. His impressive resume includes work on Star Trek: The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, and as the showrunner for the acclaimed 2000s reboot of Battlestar Galactica.

Despite the departure of some team members, Sony's Cory Barlog remains involved as an executive producer. Details about the series are still sparse, but it's confirmed that the show will draw from the 2018 installment of God of War.

Amazon's swift renewals of other video game adaptations like the Fallout TV show and Secret Level after their successful launches signal a promising future for God of War on the streaming platform.
