Anointing Guide for Path of Exile 2 (PoE 2)

Mar 27,25

In *Path of Exile 2*, like in many action RPGs, you'll find a variety of methods to enhance your character's power. Some of these methods are straightforward, while others can be more complex and challenging to grasp. Let's dive into how you can anoint items to boost your abilities in *Path of Exile 2*.

How To Get Distilled Emotions in Path of Exile 2

Anointing your amulets and Waystones becomes available later in the game, as it requires Distilled Emotions, which you can acquire from Delirium Maps. If you're familiar with the original game, you'll recognize that these Distilled Emotions function similarly to Blight Oils. There are ten distinct types of Distilled Emotions: Despair, Disgust, Envy, Fear, Greed, Guilt, Ire, Isolation, Paranoia, and Suffering.

The most common way to obtain Distilled Emotions is by completing Delirium Maps, which reward you with a random selection of them. Alternatively, you can acquire them through currency exchange or the trade market, offering more flexibility in how you gather these essential items.

For those looking to enhance their Distilled Emotions, the Reforging Bench is your go-to spot. By combining three of the same type, you can upgrade to a higher level of that particular emotion, giving you greater control over which emotions you accumulate.

For players seeking a challenge, tackling Simulacrum waves provides another avenue to obtain Distilled Emotions. However, this method is less efficient than Delirium Maps and demands a robust build due to the increased difficulty.

How To Anoint Items in Path of Exile 2

Currently, you can anoint both Waystones and amulets in *Path of Exile 2*. Given that the game is in Early Access, future updates might introduce more anointing options. To anoint an amulet, select any Distilled Emotion to access the Instilling window. Place your amulet in the central slot and then position a Distilled Emotion in each of the three bottom slots. The specific emotions needed for the desired anointing ability are detailed in the Passive Skill Tree. To view these, hover over a Notable Passive Skill and press alt on your keyboard or R3 on your controller.

The skills you choose to anoint should align with your build, and remember, this effect is not permanent. You can re-anoint an amulet by repeating the process, allowing the new skill to override the old one and adapt to your evolving build.

The same anointing process applies to Waystones, which can make encounters more challenging but also yield better loot. Keep in mind, however, that you cannot anoint corrupted items, whether they are amulets or Waystones.

With this knowledge, you're well-equipped to enhance your amulets through anointing, boosting your current build, or to challenge yourself by anointing a Waystone in *Path of Exile 2*.

*Path of Exile 2 is available now on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.*
