Hades 2 Releases Warsong Update
The God of War, Ares, Has Arrived
The roguelike dungeon crawler sequel, Hades II, has rolled out its second major patch, The Warsong Update. This update takes protagonist Melinoë to the thrilling "Final Confrontation" beyond the Guardian of Olympus. Ares, the bloodthirsty god of war, joins the battle, bringing his powerful Boons that promise to invigorate your gameplay with a new level of excitement.
In addition to Ares, the update features a new animal familiar, new adversaries to challenge, an enhanced Altar of Ashes with fresh artwork and Arcana effects, and over 2,000 new voice lines. Players can also enjoy new events, relax at the Crossroads, immerse themselves in new soundtracks, or even sing a melodic duet with Artemis.
Planning Ahead for the Third Major Update
Fresh off the release of The Warsong, Supergiant Games is already laying the groundwork for the third significant update, slated for release "some months from now," according to their Steam news post. Hades II will remain in Early Access as the developers refine the game. They've shared that "it’s still too early to share our plans beyond that, including when our v1.0 launch will be." However, with the core structure of both the Underworld and the Surface routes now complete, a full release may be closer than anticipated.
Following the post-launch patches for The Warsong Update, Supergiant Games plans to focus on these initiatives:
- Hidden Aspects: The Nocturnal Arms hold undiscovered secrets that players will eventually unlock and wield.
- Enhanced Guardians: Boss battles, a cornerstone of Hades II, will be refined to offer greater challenge and surprises.
- Expanded Story: The rest of Melinoë’s journey, along with deeper inter-character relationships and subplots, is already in the works.
Supergiant Games wrapped up their announcement with heartfelt thanks to their community. "In the meantime, thank you very much for playing Hades II! You're helping us get closer to achieving our goal of making our first-ever sequel our biggest, most replayable game yet, and a worthy successor to the original Hades that's filled with its own surprises and special touches."
The Hades II The Warsong Update is now available to download for free on Steam for all game owners.
