Assassin's Creed Fixes Windows 11 Woes

Feb 12,25

Following a recent Windows 11 update (24H2), several Assassin's Creed titles experienced launch and functionality problems. Ubisoft has swiftly addressed this issue for Assassin's Creed Origins and Assassin's Creed Valhalla, releasing patches to resolve the incompatibility. However, players should note that these patches require 230 MB and 500 MB of free storage space respectively. Updates are automatically applied via Steam.

While this is welcome news for many, concerns remain regarding other Ubisoft titles affected by the Windows update. Specifically, Assassin's Creed Odyssey continues to present problems for some users, preventing gameplay. Although previous fixes addressed critical issues in Star Wars: Outlaws and Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, performance inconsistencies might persist. Ubisoft is yet to release a patch for Assassin's Creed Odyssey, advising players to delay updating to Windows 11 24H2 until a solution is available.

The root cause of the incompatibility between the Windows 11 24H2 update and these Ubisoft games remains unclear. The issue was initially reported five months before the official update rollout, highlighting a potential oversight in pre-release testing. This is particularly concerning given Microsoft's push for Windows 10 users to upgrade to Windows 11. The majority of games, however, appear unaffected by the update.
