Assassin's Creed Shadows' "Claws of Awaji" DLC Leaks on Steam

A Steam leak has reportedly revealed details about the first DLC for Assassin's Creed Shadows, titled "Claws of Awaji." This expansion promises a significant amount of new content for players.

The upcoming Assassin's Creed Shadows, set in 16th-century feudal Japan, marks a significant milestone for the franchise, fulfilling a long-standing fan request for a Japanese setting. Players will control dual protagonists: Yasuke, a Samurai, and Naoe, a Shinobi, as they navigate the era's turbulent landscape. The game's development has been challenging, however, facing criticism and multiple delays.

According to Insider Gaming, a now-deleted Steam update revealed information about "Claws of Awaji." The leak suggests the DLC will introduce a new region, weapon type, skills, gear, and abilities, adding over 10 hours of gameplay. Pre-ordering the game will reportedly grant access to both the DLC and a bonus mission.

Delayed Release and Ubisoft's Uncertain Future

This leak coincides with the game's most recent delay. Originally slated for November 15, 2024, then pushed back to February 14, 2025, the release date has now been further postponed to March 20, 2025. Ubisoft cited the need for additional polishing and refinement.

The delay comes at a time of uncertainty for Ubisoft itself, with rumors of a potential Tencent acquisition circulating. This follows a period of mixed success for the company, with several major titles underperforming financially.
