Atelier Resleriana: Global EOS Announcement for Forgotten Alchemy and Polar Night Liberator
Another mobile game has met its end. Atelier Resleriana: Forgotten Alchemy and the Polar Night Liberator has announced its End of Service (EOS). Koei Tecmo and Akatsuki Games have revealed that their RPG will soon shut down, but this closure only affects the global version. Launched globally in January 2024, the game's performance clearly fell short of expectations. We'll delve into the reasons behind this EOS later.
It's worth noting that the Japanese version of the game continues to thrive with no plans for shutdown. Launched in September 2023, it's set to celebrate its 1.5th anniversary in March 2025, which adds an ironic twist to the global version's fate.
When Is the Atelier Resleriana EOS?
The EOS for the global version of Atelier Resleriana is scheduled for the same month the Japanese version celebrates its 1.5th anniversary, making it quite the irony. The exact date set for the global shutdown is March 28th, 2025. While Japanese players will be progressing into Chapter 22 (Part 2), global players will have to conclude their journey with Chapter 21 (Part 1).
The in-game purchase system has already been disabled, but players can still use their Lodestar Gems until the end. Koei Tecmo has committed to providing new content and events up until the shutdown. Interestingly, the global version just celebrated its first anniversary on January 25th, which makes the timing of the EOS announcement even more poignant.
Why Is It Shutting Down?
The developers have released a statement indicating that they could not maintain the game at a satisfactory standard for players, leading to the decision to shut down the global version. The game struggled to make an impact among its player base. Just a couple of months post-launch, players were vocal about their dissatisfaction with the gacha system. Despite the appeal of the main characters, the gameplay and monetization model, coupled with severe power creep, failed to retain players.
These factors undoubtedly contributed to the announcement of the EOS for Atelier Resleriana's global version. If you're interested in bidding farewell, you can still find the game on the Google Play Store.
