Avowed Has a Little Bit of Romance In It After All
Obsidian's Avowed has launched in early access, allowing players to explore the Living Lands and encounter magical items, perilous situations, and surprisingly, romantic possibilities.
Prior to release, Obsidian clarified that Avowed wouldn't include a traditional romance system, prioritizing the development of "meaningful relationships" with companions instead. Avowed Game Director Carrie Patel, in an IGN interview, explained this decision: "We are building thoughtful relationships with our companion characters," she stated. "While I personally favor offering romance as an option, I believe that if implemented, it requires significant commitment to ensure authenticity and an engaging player experience. Therefore, it's not a feature in Avowed, but I wouldn't rule it out for future titles."
