Beginner's Guide to Mastering Rune Slayer

May 17,25

After two failed launches and months of anticipation, *Rune Slayer* has finally arrived, and it's absolutely glorious. We're having a blast with the game, but there's a lot to learn, especially for those new to MMORPGs. Don't worry, we've put together a comprehensive guide to help you kickstart your adventure in *Rune Slayer*.

Rune Slayer Beginner Tips

These are the tips we wish we had known from the start to make your journey smoother.

Do not randomly attack other players

When we heard *Rune Slayer* would feature full-loot PvP, we feared it would be a chaotic bloodbath. Fortunately, that's not entirely the case. **When you die in *Rune Slayer*, you don't lose anything**, even if killed by another player. You simply respawn and continue playing.

However, **attacking other players results in a bounty on your head**. The more you kill, the larger your bounty grows, and the higher your bounty, the **more items you'll drop upon death**. Essentially, you can only turn the game into a full-loot PvP experience by initiating attacks on other players and then getting taken down.

Therefore, we strongly recommend **avoiding attacking other players** unless you have a compelling reason or a group of friends to support you while you engage in PvP.

Craft Bags ASAP

You'll quickly realize that both your **bank space and inventory are quite limited**. With only 50 item slots, your inventory can fill up fast. To address this, **the game allows you to craft bags**. You can equip up to two bags simultaneously, and the first one you can craft is a **Cotton Bag**.

Obtain **Cotton from north of Wayshire and Flax from the south** (be cautious of mobs in the south). Each Cotton Bag adds an extra 10 slots to your inventory, so **craft these as soon as possible**.

Your pets don’t actually die

It's a common misunderstanding that when your tamed pets reach zero health, they die permanently. In reality, **when your pet dies, it can't be summoned for 5 minutes**. You can **check the cooldown by holding T** after your pet is "killed". Once the cooldown is over, hold T to summon your pet back.

Bonus Tip: To **quickly heal your pet**, **store and unstore it at the stable master**. You have one free slot, so make use of it.

Grab all the Quests (Yes, all of them)

*Rune Slayer* is packed with numerous quests, most of which are not repeatable and can be easily forgotten. They often follow the familiar "Kill 10 X" format seen in many MMORPGs, and chances are you won't remember most of them.

To manage this efficiently, **accept every quest you encounter**. Don't hesitate to grab everything from the Job board as well. Completing multiple quests simultaneously is far more efficient than tackling them one by one. You might even find opportunities to complete multiple quests at the same time. We were surprised to discover we had three quests to turn in when we returned to Wayshire.

Craft everything at least once (even things you don’t need)

Of course, prioritize crafting what you need, but if you have extra materials, **use them to craft items you might not immediately need**. Why? Because **crafting items for the first time can unlock new, more powerful crafts**. For example, we unlocked a range of new Iron Armor recipes after smelting our first Iron Ore. So, don't be frugal with your materials; craft away and discover new possibilities.

Join a Guild

*Rune Slayer* is very solo-friendly, but as you delve deeper into the game, you'll encounter **more challenging enemies**. Many of these, particularly those with large health bars, are designed to be tackled in groups. **Joining a guild is the easiest way to find a group** to take on these tough foes.

Feel free to ask for a guild in general chat or use the official *Rune Slayer* Discord server to find one. Having allies will significantly enhance your gameplay experience.

**And that's all there is to it. Enjoy your journey in *Rune Slayer*, and if you haven't already, be sure to check out the *Rune Slayer* Trello and Discord for more tips and community support.**
