Bethesda Legend Recovers, Shares Message
Beloved Bethesda voice actor Wes Johnson, known for his work in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Fallout 3, Starfield, and numerous other titles, has shared a moving message following a near-fatal incident. Last week, he was found "barely alive" in his Atlanta hotel room.
A GoFundMe campaign, which has already raised over $174,000 for his medical expenses, features a video message from Johnson himself. He reveals he was in a coma and expresses his profound gratitude for the outpouring of support.
"I found out there's a lot of love in this world that I didn't know was out there," Johnson shared in the video. He was in Atlanta for a National Alzheimer's Foundation benefit event when his absence raised concerns. His wife, Kim, contacted the hotel, leading to his discovery and emergency medical care.
Johnson describes the situation as incredibly close, stating, "Rumors of my demise, well they weren't exaggerated. It was very close, very close. But I'm still here." He credits his wife's quick thinking and the actions of his son, hotel security, and medical personnel for saving his life.
He extends heartfelt thanks to the National Alzheimer's Association for supporting his family, to Ted Leonsis (chairman of the Washington Capitals' parent company) for a substantial donation, and to friends Bill Glasser and Shari Elliker for their instrumental role in organizing the GoFundMe. He also expresses deep appreciation to Bethesda for their public show of support.
"You say that I'm your friend. I am," Johnson said to Bethesda. "Always will be. Love you guys." He concludes with a message to his fans, emphasizing his gratitude for their donations and support. "I love you all. I'm not going anywhere," he assures them. "It's going to be a while as I work my way back but I'm coming back. I look forward to seeing and having you all hear me then. Cheers."
Johnson's extensive voice acting career encompasses numerous film and television roles, but he is particularly known for his extensive work with Bethesda, including his recent role as Ron Hope in Starfield. His other notable Bethesda roles include Prince Sheogorath and Lucien Lachance in Oblivion, multiple Daedric Princes in Morrowind, Fawkes and Maister Burke in Fallout 3, Hermaeus Mora and Emperor Titus Mede II in Skyrim, and Moe Cronin in Fallout 4, among many others.
