BG3 Patch 8: Massive Update Requires Stress Testing
Larian Studios has released a Stress Test update to fine-tune the upcoming Patch 8 for Baldur's Gate 3. This critical step ensures the patch's stability before its official launch. Dive into the details of the stress test, what it means for players, and what Patch 8 has in store.
Patch 8 Stress Test Update 1 Arrives With Bug Fixes
Only Available To Testers
Larian has deployed an update to the Patch 8 Stress Test build, addressing several bugs, crashes, and scripting errors. This update also ensures that Gale correctly consumes magical items as intended. Note that only participants in the Patch 8 stress test can access this update on their designated consoles. Non-testers will need to wait for the full release to enjoy the new enhancements and content.
Key improvements include fixes that allow containers within inventories to retain their contents when destroyed, enhanced screenshot functionality in Photo Mode for Steam Deck users, more responsive character poses, improved cross-play functionality, updated tooltips for the Booming Blade spell, and resolutions for various crash issues. For a comprehensive list of updates, visit the official Baldur's Gate 3 website.
Patch 8 is poised to be a significant update, potentially one of the last major feature-rich releases from Larian before they move on from the world of Faerûn. This patch introduces platform cross-play, over 12 new subclasses such as the Death Domain Cleric, Path of Giants Barbarian, and Arcane Archer Fighter, along with the eagerly awaited Photo Mode.
Photo Mode Is As Customizable As It Can Be
As players await Patch 8, they can explore an in-depth preview video showcasing how to maximize the upcoming Photo Mode. Larian aims to ensure players can extract the "Absolute most out of Photo Mode from the start."Photo Mode offers extensive flexibility, allowing players to access it during adventures, combat, and even in multiplayer sessions hosted by the player. Characters and companions can be posed creatively, with or without party members, and additional elements like a jumping frog can be added for fun. The free-moving camera enhances the ability to capture the perfect shot from any angle.
Post-processing effects, stickers, and frames can be added to personalize photos further. However, during dialogues and cinematic cutscenes, only post-process effects can be applied, with no option to adjust poses.
This sneak peek is just the beginning, as Larian plans to release a tips and tricks video to help players unlock even more creative potential with Photo Mode.
