How to Find the Black Flame in Monster Hunter Wilds

*Monster Hunter Wilds* has streamlined many of its systems, making monster tracking almost obsolete—except for one notable exception. Here’s how you can track down the elusive Black Flame in *Monster Hunter Wilds*.

Tracking the Black Flame in Monster Hunter Wilds

Around the midpoint of the main story, specifically in Chapter 3, the Black Flame monster makes a brief appearance before disappearing into the Oilwell Basin. Your mission is to locate and defeat this creature.

Start by leaving the Base Camp and heading towards Zone 9 of the region, as shown in the map screenshot below:

As you make your way to Zone 9, keep an eye out for tar tracks on the ground. Interact with these tracks to trigger your Hunter to pick up the Black Flame's scent, which will then be relayed to your scoutflies. These scoutflies will illuminate a green path, guiding you directly to the monster's location.

In Zone 9, you'll find a giant flaming crater. Follow the green path lit by the scoutflies to locate the Black Flame, also known as Nu Udra. This tentacled monster can unleash fire and other flame-based attacks, so it's wise to target its tentacles first to simplify the battle. Destroying the tentacles grants easier access to its more vulnerable inner areas, enabling you to gather more materials upon defeating it.

Additionally, carrying Cool Drinks is advisable to counteract the region's intense heat, which can otherwise cause your health to deplete continuously.

And that's how you track and defeat the Black Flame in *Monster Hunter Wilds*. For more tips and detailed guides on the game, including changing your Palico's language and capturing monsters, be sure to check out The Escapist.
