Black Ops 6 Infection and Nuketown Modes Coming This Week
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Delivers Classic Modes and Map Updates, Addresses Post-Launch Issues
Just days after its release, Black Ops 6 is adding two highly anticipated fan favorites: Infection and Nuketown. This follows a recent update addressing various player-reported issues.
Infection and Nuketown Arrive This Week
Treyarch, the developer, announced via Twitter (X): "Launch was just the start. Infected arrives tomorrow, Nuketown joins the fun on Friday. LFG!" The popular Infected mode, pitting players against zombie-like opponents, launches November 1st. Nuketown, the iconic map first introduced in Call of Duty: Black Ops (2010), follows on November 1st. This 1950s-inspired map, set amidst a nuclear test site, is a staple of the Call of Duty franchise. Activision previously confirmed plans for regular post-launch content additions. Black Ops 6, released October 25th, initially included 11 standard multiplayer modes, four variations with disabled Scorestreaks, and a Hardcore mode.
Black Ops 6 Update Tackles Post-Launch Bugs
A first update addressed several multiplayer and Zombies mode issues. Team Deathmatch, Control, Search & Destroy, and Gunfight saw XP and weapon XP rate increases. Activision stated, "We're closely monitoring XP rates across all modes to ensure fair progression." Key fixes included:
- Global: Resolved loadout highlighting, Bailey operator animation, and the "Mute Licensed Music" setting functionality.
- Maps: Addressed exploits allowing players to exit the intended play areas on Babylon, Lowtown, and Red Card. Red Card also received stability improvements. General in-game interaction stability was also enhanced.
- Multiplayer: Fixed matchmaking issues preventing quick player replacements, prevented private match forfeits with zero players on a team, and addressed the continuous Dreadnought missile sound effect.
Treyarch and Raven Software are actively working on further patches to address remaining issues, such as the Search & Destroy loadout selection death bug. Despite these initial challenges, Black Ops 6 is widely considered one of the best Call of Duty titles in recent years, particularly praised for its enjoyable campaign.
