Blizzard Fails to Extend Diablo 3 Event

May 18,25

Diablo 3's traditional "Fall of Tristram" event is set to conclude on February 1, yet many fans are hoping for its extension. Unfortunately, community manager pezradar has confirmed that extending the event is currently impossible due to its hard-coded nature, stating, "I asked about Tristram and the possibility of extending it, but unfortunately [the event] is hard-coded and it's impossible to make server-side fixes."

In related news, pezradar addressed the delay of Season 34 of Call of Light, which has disrupted some fans' weekend plans. He apologized, saying, "I'm sorry. It's not what I was hoping for. We were notified about 24 hours before we had to adjust the time. The team needs to create new code to ensure a smooth transition between seasons after problems with the automatic scheduler that ended [last 33rd] season early in early January." He added that the additional time will allow the team to implement and test the new code, ensuring a smooth transfer of player progress. Pezradar also noted, "We can improve communication with players at earlier stages, and the team is aware of this for the future."

In other gaming news, Wolcen Studio has announced Project Pantheon, a free-to-play combat role-playing game that incorporates extraction shooter mechanics. The first closed alpha testing will begin on January 25 for players in Europe, with North American players joining on February 1. Game director Andrei Cirkulete explained, "We've blended the tension and risk reward of an extraction shooter with the battle dynamics of combat role-playing games." The game draws inspiration from both Diablo and Escape from Tarkov, aiming to bring order back to a destroyed world where players will assume the role of a messenger of Death. The studio is keen to gather feedback from players during the alpha testing phase.
