Blue Protocol Global Cancellation Impacts Japan Servers
Bandai Namco's Blue Protocol, slated for a global launch via Amazon Games, has been canceled. The Japanese servers will also shut down in January 2025. This decision follows declining player numbers and the inability to meet player expectations.
Blue Protocol's Global Release and Japanese Server Shutdown
Player Compensation and Final Updates
Bandai Namco has announced the termination of Blue Protocol's Japanese service on January 18, 2025, effectively canceling the planned international release. The company cited its inability to deliver a consistently satisfying player experience as the primary reason. The statement expressed regret over the cancellation and disappointment at the inability to collaborate further with Amazon Games on the global launch.
To compensate players, Bandai Namco will provide 5,000 Rose Orbs monthly (starting September 2024) and 250 Rose Orbs daily until the server closure. Rose Orb purchases and refunds will be discontinued. Additionally, the Season 9 pass will be free, and the final update (Chapter 7) is scheduled for December 18, 2024.
Launched in June 2023, Blue Protocol initially attracted over 200,000 concurrent players. However, early server issues and subsequent player dissatisfaction led to a significant decline in the player base. The game's underperformance, reported earlier this year in Bandai Namco's financial report (ending March 31, 2024), ultimately contributed to this decision. Despite initial promise, the game failed to meet financial projections and sustain player engagement.
