Camper Waits for Switch 2 at San Francisco Nintendo Store Before It Opens
The excitement for the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 is palpable, and it's already drawing dedicated fans to camp out at the new Nintendo Store in San Francisco, even though it won't open its doors until May 15. YouTuber Super Cafe documented his journey in a video released on April 8, detailing his flight of over 800 miles to stake his claim as the first in line on the west coast for both the store opening and the Switch 2 launch.
Super Cafe, who recently moved into his new apartment just two months ago, admitted that his decision to camp out might not be the best financially. "Terrible financial decision on my end. Whatever, who cares," he remarked, showcasing his enthusiasm for the upcoming console. His dedication mirrors that of another content creator in New York, who is also camping out to be first in line for the Switch 2.
While Super Cafe plans to camp solo, he's open to others joining him and has encouraged potential campers to reach out. As for the logistics of his extended stay, such as food, showers, and other necessities, he promised to address these in a future Q&A.
The tradition of camping out for major Nintendo releases, especially new consoles, has a long history. With dedicated campers now at both the San Francisco and New York stores, it remains to be seen if this will spark a trend of others joining the lines. The Nintendo Switch 2 is set to launch on June 5, 2025.
