Residents Evil Trilogy Hits Nintendo Switch 2 in 2026
In a surprise move during the September 2025 Nintendo Direct, Capcom revealed that Resident Evil Requiem, Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, and Resident Evil Village are all headed to the Nintendo Switch 2.
The trio of mainline Resident Evil titles received a confirmed Switch 2 release date of February 27, 2026. While Biohazard and Village are well-known to fans, the showcase provided a new glimpse of gameplay for Requiem, which launches on all other platforms the same day.
"Face terror like never before in the spine-tingling ninth chapter of the Resident Evil saga," the official description reads. "Venture back into the desolate ruins of Raccoon City for a survival horror adventure built on the series' signature blend of combat, investigation, puzzle-solving, and resource management."
With several months remaining until launch, many details about Resident Evil Requiem are still under wraps. We did, however, get some hands-on time with the game recently and followed up with an in-depth interview with the Capcom development team.
More will be revealed when Resident Evil Requiem arrives this February. As for the Switch 2 ports of Resident Evil 7: Biohazard and Resident Evil Village, both will be the Gold Edition releases, which include all previously launched additional content.
Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, Resident Evil 8: Village, and Resident Evil 9: Requiem launch on Switch 2 early next year. While we await any news on Leon S. Kennedy, you can view the full September 2025 Nintendo Direct announcement summary here.
