Captain America: Brave New World Is One of the Shortest Marvel Cinematic Universe Films

Feb 26,25

Captain America: Brave New World, clocking in at a concise 1 hour and 58 minutes, claims the title of shortest Captain America film and one of the shortest MCU films overall. This runtime places it among a select few MCU entries under two hours, ranking seventh shortest out of 35 films. In contrast, the previous three Captain America films all exceeded the two-hour mark.

While shorter films are prevalent in the MCU's Phase 1 and Phase 2, several exceptions have emerged recently. The shortest MCU film is 2022's The Marvels (1 hour, 45 minutes), followed by The Incredible Hulk, Thor: The Dark World, Thor, Doctor Strange, and Ant-Man.

Brave New World shares its runtime with Ant-Man and The Wasp. Conversely, the longest MCU film is Avengers: Endgame (3 hours, 1 minute), followed by Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Eternals, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

Despite its upcoming February 14th release, Brave New World reportedly underwent extensive rewrites and reshoots, including scenes featuring WWE star Seth Rollins. The impact of these revisions on the final runtime remains unclear.

Starring Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson, this film marks the first Captain America movie following Chris Evans' Steve Rogers' retirement. Mackie promises a continuation of the grounded, espionage-thriller legacy of the series.

The film is also poised to introduce deep-cut Marvel characters, including a payoff to a tease from The Incredible Hulk, with the introduction of The Leader and the inclusion of Red Hulk.
