CD Projekt Red confirms Ciri will take center stage in The Witcher 4, a decision driven by narrative progression and the rich potential of the character. Executive producer Malgorzata Mitrega explains that Geralt's story arc concluded in The Witcher 3, making Ciri the logical successor. Her established depth and complexity, honed across books and games, offer exciting creative avenues for developers.

Director Sebastian Kalemba highlights Ciri's age as a key factor, allowing for greater player agency in shaping her character arc – a freedom unavailable with the established Geralt. The shift, discussed internally nearly a decade ago, underscores CD Projekt Red's long-term vision for Ciri as Geralt's heir. Kalemba promises a new saga with equally epic challenges and perspectives for Ciri.

The decision has the backing of Geralt's voice actor, Doug Cockle, who acknowledges Ciri's considerable potential. While Geralt will feature in The Witcher 4, his role will be secondary, ensuring a fresh narrative focus on Ciri.
