What Are Legendary Sumi-E in Assassin’s Creed Shadows?

Legendary Sumi-E are exquisite paintings of animals that you can create as Naoe or Yasuke while exploring the wilds. A painting icon will appear on your compass and map when you're close to one of these subjects. To capture these moments, approach stealthily by crouching, then hold L2/LT to complete the painting. Look for Tanuki statues around the area, then follow the path upward to a clearing where the legendary Tanuki will be waiting. Approach stealthily to capture this moment.

Legendary Grey Heron – Winter, Daytime

In winter, during the day, travel to Wakasa and the Lake Suigetsu area. Head to the cluster of islands west of the lake. Dismount at a distance, approach the marked area cautiously, and complete the Sumi-E of the Legendary Grey Heron.

Legendary Macaque – All Seasons, Nighttime

Travel to the Yamashiro region and locate the Little Leaf Glade sub-region. Find the Sarumaru Shrine near the mountains, wait until night, and climb the stairs to the top where you'll find the three wise monkeys ready to be painted.

Legendary Silver Fox – Autumn, Nighttime

In autumn, at night, journey to the Kii region and the Nakahechi Route sub-region. Visit the Kamimisu Inari Shrine, known for its fox statues, and find the legendary Silver Fox at the cliff's edge to capture it in your Sumi-E.

Legendary Deer – Spring, Nighttime

During spring at night, head to the Yamato region and the Yoshino sub-region. Start from the Mountain Blossom Temple to the west and travel east to reach Sakura Meadows. Climb the slopes to a clearing where the legendary Deer awaits to be immortalized in your Sumi-E collection.

Remember, even at the correct location and time, the animals might not always spawn. If this happens, try fast-traveling to a nearby location and returning to see if your luck changes. With persistence, you'll soon complete your collection.
