According to a recent report by Deadline, the seemingly abandoned Warner Bros. film Coyote vs. Acme might finally make its way to audiences. Los Angeles-based independent film production and distribution company Ketchup Entertainment is reportedly in deep negotiations to acquire the film, which was previously thought to be entirely scrapped.

While the deal has not been finalized, Deadline suggests that should the negotiations succeed, Coyote vs. Acme could see a theatrical release in 2026. The film, which is based on a 1990 Ian Frazier New Yorker article and co-written by James Gunn, stars Will Forte and John Cena. Announced in 2022, it was originally slated for a mid-2023 release on Max but was shelved despite being fully completed. Since then, a dedicated campaign to save the movie has been in motion.

Ketchup Entertainment has a track record of rescuing films from being shelved. They recently saved another Warner Bros. project, The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie, from a similar fate. By securing it a theatrical release in the US, Ketchup Entertainment made it the first fully animated Looney Tunes movie to hit cinemas. IGN praised the film, calling it a "laugh-out-loud riot."

Ketchup Entertainment's portfolio includes notable releases such as Hellboy: The Crooked Man and the Robert Rodriguez thriller Hypnotic, featuring Ben Affleck. The company also co-produced Michael Mann's 2023 Ferrari biopic, demonstrating their commitment to bringing diverse and high-quality content to the screen.
