Cyberpunk 2077 enthusiasts were once thrilled by the prospect of an ambitious DLC set in space, specifically on the Moon, but sadly, these plans were eventually shelved. Thanks to the diligent work of blogger and dataminer SirMZK, we've gained insights into CD Projekt RED's grand vision through leaks and files extracted from the game's code.

Within the game's files, there are references to lunar surface maps, structured zones such as the Exterior Movie Set and Drug Lab, and even a model of a rover. The Moon was envisioned to be a massive location, potentially as large as a quarter of Night City, designed as an open-world environment. This expansion would have taken players beyond the familiar neon-lit streets, offering a fresh dimension to the gameplay experience.

One of the highlights of this proposed DLC was the Crystal Palace, an elite space station. Though it didn't make it into the final release, players can catch a glimpse of the Crystal Palace during one of the game's endings, where V looks out of a spaceship window. Additionally, the files uncovered a prototype for a zero-gravity bar connected to a cut quest named "201," which was linked to the Arasaka storyline.

Fans remain hopeful that some of these intriguing concepts might find their way into CD Projekt RED's upcoming project, Orion, which aims to further expand the Cyberpunk universe. However, there has been no official word from the studio about reusing these ideas.

Although the Moon DLC remains a distant dream for now, the details that have surfaced offer a captivating glimpse into what could have been—a bold venture for Cyberpunk 2077 into uncharted territory, seamlessly blending space exploration with the game's distinctive cyberpunk aesthetic.
