Defeat and Capture Nerscylla: Monster Hunter Wilds Guide
If you're diving into *Monster Hunter Wilds* and find yourself face-to-face with the daunting Nerscylla, a giant spider that's the stuff of nightmares, especially for arachnophobes, you're in the right place. This creature not only strikes fear into the hearts of many but also provides high-affinity weapons, making it a prime target for hunters. Let's delve into how to effectively tackle and capture this formidable foe.
How to Beat Nerscylla in Monster Hunter Wilds
Nerscylla is a force to be reckoned with, boasting weaknesses to Fire and Thunder (especially when its mantle is broken), while it resists Sleep and is immune to Sonic Bombs. This agile beast uses its web to ensnare you, poisons with its bite, and can put you to sleep with its rear stinger. Its status effect damage is nothing to scoff at, so equip yourself with antidotes for poison and sleep cures before engaging.
Nerscylla's attacks can be categorized into two main types: bite/pincer attacks and web attacks. The former involves the spider rearing back, revealing orange fangs, and then charging forward to slam them shut. This inflicts poison and deals massive damage. To evade, position yourself behind it or swiftly retreat.
For web attacks, Nerscylla might shoot web directly at you or fire three webs at different angles successively. Getting hit means getting stuck, but you can dodge these. It also uses web to charge at you horizontally, which you can block or dodge sideways, or swing up like Spider-Man, which you can avoid by moving sideways.
How to Capture Nerscylla in Monster Hunter Wilds
Capturing Nerscylla requires preparation and strategy. Equip yourself with a Pitfall Trap, a Shock Trap, and Tranq Bombs. Though you technically need just one trap and two Tranq Bombs, the unpredictable nature of *Monster Hunter Wilds* makes it wise to bring extras.
First, you must battle Nerscylla until it's nearly defeated. Signs of its weakness include limping, NPC comments on its condition, and a skull icon appearing next to its mini-map marker. Once it's in this state, place your trap, lure Nerscylla into it, and then throw two Tranq Bombs to successfully capture this giant spider.
