Disable Crossplay in Black Ops 6: Xbox, PS5 Guide
In the last decade, the dream of playing online across different platforms has become a reality, significantly impacting the *Call of Duty* community. While crossplay has united players, it's not without its challenges. Here's a detailed guide on how to disable crossplay in *Black Ops 6* and why you might want to consider it.
Should You Disable Crossplay in Black Ops 6? Answered
Disabling crossplay in *Black Ops 6* can be a strategic move, but it comes with its own set of pros and cons. The primary motivation for turning off crossplay is to level the playing field, ensuring a more balanced and fair gaming experience. Console players on Xbox and PlayStation often seek to avoid competing against PC players, who use a different input method.
If you're playing on a console, you might want to disable crossplay due to the inherent advantages PC players have with mouse and keyboard controls. Aiming with a mouse offers greater precision than using a controller, which can tilt the balance in competitive matches. Additionally, PC players might have easier access to mods and cheats. Despite *Call of Duty*'s Ricochet Anti-Cheat system, players in *Black Ops 6* and *Warzone* have reported encountering hackers and cheaters. Disabling crossplay could theoretically reduce the number of cheaters you encounter in your lobbies.
However, there's a significant downside to disabling crossplay: it reduces the pool of available players for matchmaking. This can lead to longer wait times for matches and potentially poorer connections between players. In our experience, disabling crossplay often results in extended matchmaking times and less stable lobbies.

How To Turn Off Crossplay in Black Ops 6
Disabling crossplay in *Black Ops 6* is a straightforward process. Navigate to the Account & Network settings, where you'll find the Crossplay and Crossplay Communications toggle at the top. Simply scroll to these settings and press X or A to switch the setting from On to Off. This can be done within *Black Ops 6*, *Warzone*, or from the main *Call of Duty* HQ page. Note that in the image above, we accessed the Crossplay setting by favoriting it and placing it in Quick Settings.
You might find the setting greyed out and locked at times, especially in certain modes like Ranked Play. *Call of Duty* has previously enforced crossplay in these modes, aiming for fairness, but the results can be quite the opposite. Fortunately, starting from Season 2 of *Black Ops 6*, players will have the option to disable crossplay, giving them more control over their gaming experience in the game's most competitive modes.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is available now on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.
