Disney Lorcana's Ninth Set 'Fabled' Launches in September 2025, Featuring Goofy Movie and Epic Cards
Disney Lorcana enthusiasts, buckle up! The trading card game just dropped a wealth of exciting updates for its future, including details on the ninth set, Fabled, set to launch on September 5, 2025. Fabled will introduce the first-ever Iconic and Epic cards and bring in beloved characters from A Goofy Movie. But that's not all—let's dive into the treasure trove of information revealed, from the eighth set, Reign of Jafar, to the upcoming Disney Lorcana World Championship and tantalizing teases of what's next.
Fabled Will Add Iconic and Epic Cards, A Goofy Movie, and Rotating Cards for Competitive Play
The wait for Fabled, with its pre-release on August 29 and wide release on September 5, is becoming increasingly exciting. A Goofy Movie is set to make a splash with new cards, though specifics remain under wraps. What we do know is that Mickey and Minnie will grace the game as the inaugural Iconic Cards. These are the rarest cards in Lorcana, with only two per set, featuring stunning artwork of Mickey and Minnie on a carousel.
Joining the Iconic Cards are the Epic Cards, which fall between Legendary and Enchanted in rarity. These cards will showcase unique artwork and foil treatments, giving players a chance to snag special cards like a new Elsa (Snow Queen) card. Fabled also marks a pivotal change with the introduction of card rotation, excluding cards from the first four sets in the top-tier competitive format, Core Constructed.

Fans of older cards need not fret, as the Infinity Constructed format will allow continued play with these cards. Fabled will also introduce reprints of popular cards from earlier sets, such as Winnie the Pooh (Hunny Wizard), ensuring they remain viable in competitive play.
"To keep the competitive game thriving, rotating out older cards to encourage new strategies and fresh deck designs is a really important part of the next chapter," said Ryan Miller, Brand Manager and Co-Designer of Disney Lorcana TCG at Ravensburger. "But because we know there are cards in those early sets that are important to a lot of fans' deck-building strategies, and we know not everybody got the cards they wanted the first year, we're re-printing some cards from those first sets in Fabled. Including Enchanted versions of some fan favorites!"
New to Lorcana? The Collection Starter Set is your perfect entry point. It includes four Fabled booster packs, a Tinker Bell (Giant Fairy) "Glimmer Foil" Promo Card, a card portfolio featuring Mickey Mouse (Brave Little Tailor), and a collector's guide.
Reign of Jafar Offers Aladdin and Bambi Cards Alongside a New Co-Op Adventure
The eighth set, Reign of Jafar, is slated for a pre-release on May 30 and a wide release on June 6. This set continues the saga of the Disney villain, with Jafar wielding the Hexwell Crown to corrupt Archazia’s Island. Players will team up with characters like Jasmine – Steady Strategist and Rapunzel – High Climber to reclaim the crown and defeat Jafar.

Accompanying Reign of Jafar is the Illumineers' Quest: Palace Heist, a new cooperative experience allowing four players to collaborate against Jafar and his minion. Card collectors can look forward to additions like Bambi (Prince of the Forest), Flower (Shy Skunk), Thumper (Young Bunny), Jafar (High Sultan of Lorcana), Magic Carpet (Phantom Rug), Aladdin (Vigilant Guard), and more.
Teases of the Future Include Whispers in the Well and Darkwing Duck
Looking ahead, the set following Fabled, titled Whispers in the Well, is slated for Q4 2025. While details are scarce, key art suggests the inclusion of Mickey, Ariel, and characters from Disney's Gargoyles, along with a new type of Glimmer. Excitingly, the team confirmed that Darkwing Duck will join the game in 2026, answering many fans' wishes.
Get Ready For the Disney Lorcana World Championship
The competitive scene is heating up with the Disney Lorcana World Championship scheduled for June 28 and 29 at Walt Disney World. This major tournament will crown the first annual Disney Lorcana TCG World Champion. Those unable to attend can watch live on Twitch.TV/DisneyLorcana, with commentary from a talented team including Rebekah (RebekahQuests), Baker (LorcanaVillain), Liam (The Illumiteers), Brandon (Bsquared24), and JD (JDZ Quest). Additionally, a non-foil 'A Whole New World' promo card will be available, with more details forthcoming.
