7月30日，《如龙：无限财富》首席设计师Michiko Hatoyama讨论了咚咚岛游戏模式是如何发展壮大的，尽管它只是一个迷你游戏。
在最近接受Automaton采访时，Hatoyama解释说，咚咚岛最初的计划并没有那么庞大，但在开发过程中发生了很大的转变。Hatoyama提到：“一开始，咚咚岛比较小，但不知不觉中它就变大了。”RGG工作室通过在这个迷你游戏中添加更多家具配方，将他们的计划提升了一个档次。
RGG工作室编辑并重复使用了过去的资产，以增加咚咚岛家具配方的数量。Hatoyama分享说，他们“几分钟内”就制作出了单个家具，而创建资产的典型时间可能需要几天甚至一个月才能完成。来自《如龙》系列的丰富的游戏资产库使团队能够快速创建并将大量家具整合到咚咚岛中。
