Nintendo assures ample Switch 2 supply for US market

Nintendo of America president Doug Bowser expressed confidence that the company can meet U.S. demand for Switch 2 consoles throughout the crucial holiday shopping season. During an interview about Nintendo's new San Francisco store, Bowser revealed plans maintaining steady inventory flow following the June 5 launch.
Nintendo's 15 Million Unit Strategy
"President Furukawa recently announced our production forecast of 15 million Switch 2 units for this fiscal year," Bowser told IGN. "This target mirrors Nintendo Switch's successful launch trajectory - we're committed to maintaining consistent supply through the holidays."
The executive acknowledged overwhelming pre-order demand, particularly after April's tariff-related delays. While Nintendo warned My Nintendo Store customers about potential shipping delays due to unprecedented demand, Bowser reassured that committed buyers will receive their systems.
The $450 Price Commitment Challenge
When pressed about potential price hikes due to increased tariffs, Bowser maintained Nintendo's announced pricing structure while acknowledging market fluidity: "We intentionally locked in our $449 standalone and $499 Mario Kart bundle pricing despite tariff uncertainties to reassure consumers," he explained.
The executive emphasized Nintendo's commitment to accessibility: "We'll navigate changing market conditions to keep Switch 2 as obtainable as possible."
Bowser's comments suggest Nintendo learned from previous console launch challenges. The company aims to avoid the stock shortages that plagued earlier hardware releases while balancing global tariff complexities.
