Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii: A Blend of Manly Drama and Comedic Mayhem

RGG Studio promises a unique blend of serious drama and over-the-top comedy in their upcoming title, Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii. This latest installment features a "more serious" Goro Majima, according to director Masayoshi Yokoyama, particularly at the story's outset.

However, the signature Like a Dragon humor isn't entirely absent. Producer Ryosuke Horii emphasizes a core "manly drama," focusing on Majima's pursuit of his goals and the bonds he forges along the way. While acknowledging the game's comedic detours, Horii highlights the central narrative of a passionate man on a unique journey. He further explains that Majima offers a distinct dynamic unavailable with series protagonist Kazuma Kiryu, justifying the heightened reality and varied action sequences. The team aimed for a balance between the pirate theme, Majima's personality, and the overall Like a Dragon feel.

The developers actively sought to avoid a predictable storyline, opting for a wilder, yet dramatically sound, gameplay experience.

Majima's Maji Festival: A Japanese Celebration

To celebrate the game's launch, RGG Studio is hosting Majima's Maji Festival across six Japanese cities. The tour, which began December 1st, 2024 in Sapporo, concludes in Nagoya (January 18th) and Tokyo (January 25th).

Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii, starring the "Mad Dog of Shimano," promises an action-packed pirate adventure with thrilling naval combat and a vibrant cast of characters.
