Dune: Awakening PvP Exploit Discovered During Open Beta
Dune: Awakening has recently concluded its open beta weekend, and during this period, fans uncovered a significant exploit that could stun enemies indefinitely. This article delves into the details of this PvP-disrupting bug and outlines Funcom's planned response to address it.
Players Discover Game-Breaking Stunlock Exploit
The open beta weekend for Dune: Awakening offered fans an immersive experience with the game's initial 20-25 hours and various features. However, a notable exploit surfaced during the Global LAN Party livestream on May 10. Players identified a method to perpetually stun their opponents in PvP by exploiting quick knife attacks when the enemy's stamina is depleted. This "stunlock exploit" leaves the target unable to defend, use abilities, or escape, effectively rendering them helpless.
The issue gained widespread attention when popular streamers like Tyler1 and Shroud showcased the exploit during their livestreams, highlighting the severity of the bug.
Funcom Promises Fix Before Launch
During the same Global LAN Party livestream, Funcom's developers, including Dune: Awakening World Director Jeff Gagné and Lead Producer Ole Andreas Haley, acknowledged the stunlock exploit. They assured the community that this issue would be resolved before the game's official launch.
Gagné confidently stated, "We got this covered. It's not like 'Oh my god, we haven't thought about it.' It's already going away." With the open beta now concluded, the developers have gathered substantial praise and crucial feedback necessary to refine the game for its upcoming release.
Dune: Awakening is slated for release on June 10, 2025, for PC, with subsequent releases planned for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S at a yet-to-be-announced date. For the latest updates on Dune: Awakening, be sure to check out our detailed articles below!
