Dungeons & Dragons Live Action Netflix Series in the Works, Could Launch a ‘D&D Universe’
Netflix is developing a live-action Dungeons & Dragons series based on the Forgotten Realms setting, according to Deadline. The project, one of Netflix's largest fantasy TV investments, is helmed by Shawn Levy (director of Deadpool and Wolverine), with Drew Crevello ( WeCrashed) as writer and showrunner. While Netflix and Hasbro haven't confirmed the news, the pilot script is reportedly complete. Success could lead to a broader D&D universe on the platform.
While this series shows promise, a sequel to the well-received Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves remains uncertain. Despite Chris Pine's enthusiasm for a return, Paramount's CEO, Brian Robbins, has expressed interest in a sequel only if the budget is significantly reduced. Meanwhile, Amazon's Secret Level series features a D&D animated segment.
