The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered Mods Have Already Been Published Online
Bethesda has officially stated that The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered will not include official mod support, yet the passionate modding community has already begun rolling out several fan-made modifications. Within hours of the game’s surprise launch on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, a collection of community-driven mods appeared on platforms like Nexus Mods.
These initial offerings are relatively minor, providing users with simple customization options such as altering desktop shortcuts or skipping introductory logos. However, they demonstrate the unwavering dedication of the modding community within the Elder Scrolls fanbase. Currently, over 22 mods are available on Nexus Mods, with the earliest ones enabling players to replace the default Oblivion Remastered shortcut with images of the iconic Adoring Fan. Others focus on gameplay tweaks, such as modifying spells like Wizard’s Fury or removing the compass entirely.
Despite Bethesda's announcement, the absence of official mod support hasn’t deterred modders. A Nexus Mods user named GodschildGaming uploaded an Iron Longsword Damage Mod to showcase that the game remains moddable. In the mod’s description, they remarked, “This is just to prove modding is possible. Bethesda says no mod support, I say false. It really is Unreal slapped on top of Oblivion—the data folder is nested in more folders, but the concept remains the same.”
As players continue exploring Oblivion Remastered, the modding scene is expected to grow rapidly, offering increasingly creative ways to enhance the experience. While awaiting further developments, readers can delve into discussions surrounding whether the game qualifies more as a remake or remaster and why Bethesda chose the “Remastered” label.
For those eager to dive deeper, we’ve compiled a comprehensive guide covering everything from the Interactive Map and walkthroughs to character-building tips and essential first steps. Stay tuned as more mods emerge and reshape the beloved world of Cyrodiil.
