Episode 1 Character Unlocks in Next Star Wars Game
Aspyr's upcoming release of Star Wars Episode I: Jedi Power Battles for modern consoles features a surprising playable character: Jar Jar Binks. A new trailer showcases Binks wielding a staff in action-packed gameplay.
This isn't the only new addition; Aspyr has unveiled nine other playable characters, with more to come, expanding the already diverse roster of the 2000 original. The remastered Jedi Power Battles aims to capture the nostalgia of the original while adding new content, including customizable lightsaber colors and cheat code support.
The trailer highlights Jar Jar's signature chaotic style and voice lines. While some fans might have envisioned a Darth Jar Jar-esque red lightsaber wielding character, Binks instead utilizes a large staff. He'll be playable upon the game's January 23rd launch, with pre-orders already available.
Newly Revealed Playable Characters:
- Jar Jar Binks
- Rodian
- Flame Droid
- Gungan Guard
- Destroyer Droid
- Ishi Tib
- Rifle Droid
- Staff Tusken Raider
- Weequay
- Mercenary
Aspyr's additions demonstrate a commitment to expanding the game's playable characters beyond the original lineup. The variety is impressive, including iconic characters like the Staff Tusken Raider and Rodian, alongside various droid types. The inclusion of both Jar Jar Binks and the Gungan Guard highlights the breadth of new characters.
With the release date rapidly approaching, fans eagerly anticipate experiencing these new additions and hope Aspyr leverages past successes, such as their Star Wars: Bounty Hunter re-release, to deliver a truly satisfying updated experience.
