"The Exit 8: 3D Liminal Spaces Walking Simulator Now on Android!"
The Exit 8 has made its debut on Android, offering a unique blend of elements. Developed by Kotake Create and published by Playism, this game is available for $3.99. It's a walking simulator with a twist, enveloped in an eerie atmosphere that challenges players with every step they take.
A Creepy Walking Adventure
In The Exit 8, players navigate through an endless underground passageway resembling a Japanese metro station. Trapped in a loop, you'll encounter repeating tiles, lights, posters, and even a man walking toward you. The core challenge is to spot anomalies—be it a poster with a different graphic, flickering lights, or something as stark as a river of blood replacing the floor. The game's mechanics hinge on noticing these subtle changes and reacting quickly.
If you detect something unusual, you must turn back. If not, continue forward. Your objective is to reach the eighth exit without making a mistake, which means correctly identifying and reacting to eight consecutive anomalies. Fail, and you'll have to start over.
The Exit 8 Lets You Soak in a Surreal, Unsettling Atmosphere
The game's design draws inspiration from the concept of liminal spaces and the Backrooms, with settings modeled after real Japanese metro stations, such as Kiyosumi-Shirakawa Station in Tokyo. This influence is evident in the claustrophobic corridors and repetitive architecture, creating an immersive environment.
Players are encouraged to engage actively with their surroundings, scrutinizing every detail for signs of danger or reality distortion. This gameplay mechanic, which challenges your memory and perception, ensures that each playthrough feels unique.
Originally released for PC in November 2023, The Exit 8 took Kotake Create about nine months to develop. It garnered 1.4 million downloads worldwide on Steam upon its release. Now available on mobile, you can download it from the Google Play Store.
