Fable's First Pre-Alpha Gameplay Revealed
In a surprising turn of events, early gameplay footage of the highly anticipated next installment of the Fable series was unveiled during the Official Xbox Podcast. This unexpected reveal offered fans a glimpse into the game's world, showcasing various locations, the combat system, different types of enemies, and a brief cutscene. Notably, the footage also included the return of the iconic chicken kick, much to the delight of long-time fans of the series.
Prior to this reveal, the head of Xbox Game Studios had announced a delay for Fable, pushing its release from 2025 to 2026. The delay was attributed to the need for additional time to polish and refine the game, ensuring a high-quality experience for players.
The reboot of the beloved Fable series was first announced on July 23, 2020. However, in the three years following the announcement, very little information about the game's progress was shared, indicating that Fable was still in the early stages of development. The main developer, Playground Games, sought assistance from Eidos Montreal, highlighting the challenges faced in bringing this ambitious project to life. The absence of polished gameplay footage for an extended period further underscores the significant issues the development team has been working to overcome.
