New First-Party PlayStation Game Will Reportedly Be Inspired by Smash Bros
A PlayStation studio, newly formed from former Bungie employees, is reportedly developing "Gummy Bears," a MOBA initially conceived at Bungie. This project, rumored to be in development since at least 2022, features a unique gameplay mechanic.
Instead of traditional health bars, Gummy Bears utilizes a percentage-based damage system, mirroring the mechanics found in the Super Smash Bros. franchise. High damage percentages result in characters being knocked back, potentially even off the map.
The game, described as having a "cozy, vibrant, and lo-fi" aesthetic, will include three character classes (Attack, Defense, and Support) and multiple game modes. This stylistic departure from Bungie's previous work aims to attract a younger audience.
While the release date remains uncertain, the shift in development to a new PlayStation studio suggests Gummy Bears is still in a relatively early stage of production. The project's unique features and target demographic make it a noteworthy addition to the PlayStation first-party lineup.
