Garena Free City Pre-Registration Now Open in SEA, Middle East, Africa
Garena Free City, the latest addition to the developer's expansive portfolio, is now open for pre-registration on both iOS and Android platforms in the Middle East, Southeast Asia, and Africa. If you're eagerly anticipating the next installment in a renowned series, Garena Free City might just be the perfect interim fix.
Let's be straightforward: Garena Free City is Garena's interpretation of Grand Theft Auto, and it's slated for release on June 30th. Whether you see this as a positive or negative development hinges on your perspective. At first glance, it may seem like just another uninspired mobile clone of GTA, but a closer look reveals some promising features.
One standout aspect is its comprehensive character customization system, which allows for detailed Sims-like adjustments to individual features. Additionally, the game steers away from GTA's more realistic approach, incorporating unique elements such as giant robots and summonable power-ups like deployable cover.
Bold & BrashHowever, it's evident that Garena Free City borrows heavily from the allure of Grand Theft Auto Online, which is somewhat disappointing given the innovative elements it introduces. These distinctive features have the potential to captivate players.
Timing, however, might not be in Garena's favor with the launch of Free City. While I believe no single app can dominate a genre on mobile devices, the upcoming release of Ananta, which promises an expansive world and quirky sidequests similar to Free City, poses a significant challenge. Ananta's unique anime aesthetic sets it apart, whereas Free City's reluctance to fully embrace its distinctiveness is my primary critique so far.
To stay ahead of the game with current and upcoming launches, don't miss Catherine's regular feature, "Ahead of the Game," where you can discover new games available to play right now.
