GTA 6 PC Release Hinted To Come At A Later Date
Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6) is highly anticipated, but its PC release remains unconfirmed. However, recent statements from Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick hint at a future PC launch. This article explores the possibilities and the current development status.
GTA 6 on PC: Unconfirmed, But Hope Remains
While a PC release hasn't been officially announced, Take-Two's comments suggest it's a strong possibility. During a February 10, 2025 interview with IGN, Zelnick discussed platform release strategies. He noted that while Civilization 7 will launch simultaneously on consoles and PC, other titles often follow a staggered release schedule. He specifically referenced Rockstar's history of initially launching on select platforms before expanding to others.
Looking at past releases, GTA 5 launched on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in September 2013, followed by PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in November 2014, and finally PC in April 2015. Similarly, Red Dead Redemption 2 arrived on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in October 2018, then PC in November 2019. This pattern suggests a PC release for GTA 6 is likely, even if not at launch.
While fans hoped for a simultaneous PC release given GTA 6's scale, Zelnick's remarks indicate Take-Two's intention to eventually bring the game to PC. Major titles in the Grand Theft Auto franchise have historically made their way to PC, fueling ongoing optimism.
Take-Two's Confidence in GTA 6 Sales Across Platforms
Zelnick highlighted the growing significance of the PC market, stating that PC versions of multiplatform games can contribute up to 40% of total sales. He emphasized the increasing importance of PC gaming and predicted continued growth in this sector.
Despite reports of declining PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S sales, Zelnick expressed confidence in GTA 6's strong performance across all platforms. He believes the game's popularity will boost console sales, echoing past trends where major game releases have driven hardware sales. He anticipates a significant increase in console sales in 2025 due to several upcoming game releases.
GTA 6 is slated for release in Fall 2025, but a precise date remains unannounced. For the latest updates, visit our Grand Theft Auto 6 page.
Take-Two and Rockstar Games: Potential Switch 2 Releases?
During Take-Two Interactive's Q3 Fiscal Conference Call on February 6, 2025, Zelnick expressed interest in bringing their games to the Nintendo Switch 2. He highlighted their long-standing relationship with Nintendo and their willingness to support the platform when strategically advantageous. With Civilization 7 now confirmed for Switch, and Nintendo's expanding audience, Take-Two appears open to future Switch releases, though no specific titles were mentioned.
