GTA 6 Set to Earn $1.3 Billion on Launch Day
Grand Theft Auto (GTA) 5 actor Ned Luke reassures fans that GTA 6 is worth the wait and shares his predictions on the game's sales. Dive in to learn more about what to expect with GTA 6 and its development.
Rockstar Games To Do Something Unexpected For GTA 6
GTA 5 Actor Expects GTA 6 to Make $1.3 Billion On Its First Day
Ned Luke, the voice behind Michael De Santa in GTA 5, has high expectations for GTA 6, predicting that it will rake in a staggering $1.3 billion on its first day. In a recent interview with the YouTube channel Fall Damage, Luke expressed his excitement about the upcoming game, stating that Rockstar Games always manages to surprise with their innovative approaches.
"Be patient," Luke advised fans, "it's going to be worth the wait. From what I've seen, it's going to be amazing." He compared it to GTA 5, which earned over $800 million in its first 24 hours back in 2013, confidently asserting that GTA 6 will surpass these figures.
According to DFC Intelligence, a research firm, GTA 6 is projected to sell over 40 million copies and generate $3.2 billion in its first year, with $1 billion coming solely from pre-orders.
The Future Of GTA 5 Characters In GTA 6
Luke also shared insights on the potential return of GTA 5 characters in GTA Online and GTA 6. He noted that his character, Michael, has been absent from GTA Online since its inception, unlike Trevor and Franklin, who have made appearances.
Teasing fans, Luke hinted at Michael's possible inclusion in a speculated final DLC for GTA Online or even in GTA 6 itself. Steven Ogg, who portrayed Trevor in GTA 5, discussed his ideal scenario for his character in GTA 6 with ScreenRant in January 2025, suggesting a dramatic "passing the torch" moment at the game's start.
"Maybe [Michael, Franklin, and Trevor will be] in GTA 6, like [its online mode]. Maybe. Maybe not. You know Rockstar is not going to tell you anything. And if we say anything, you know they will not be very happy," Luke remarked. While both actors are keen to reprise their roles, no official announcements have been made regarding their characters' involvement in GTA 6.
GTA 6 May Be At Its Testing Phase
Former Rockstar Games Animator Mike York suggested that GTA 6 is currently in its in-house testing phase. In a now-deleted video interview with YouTuber Kiwi Talkz, reported by GamesRadar, York emphasized the game's uniqueness and unpredictability.
"There are a lot of things that can happen that you don't really think about until some random kid in his basement tries it, you know? You really don't," York explained, highlighting the game's potential for unexpected player interactions.
York believes that GTA 6 is now undergoing in-house testing, with the team "still putting in a little work and throwing in little extras." He speculated that the game is at least playable at this stage, with numerous testers likely having experienced it.
Rockstar Games first unveiled GTA 6 with a trailer in December 2023, but since then, details have been scarce. It was previously reported that GTA 6 is slated for a Fall 2025 release, based on Take-Two Interactive’s 2024 Financial Report. However, no official release date has been confirmed.
