Two GTA Titles Are Leaving Netflix Games Next Month

Jan 05,25

Big changes are coming for Netflix Games subscribers who enjoy Grand Theft Auto on Android. Grand Theft Auto III and Grand Theft Auto: Vice City will be removed from the Netflix Games catalog next month.

Why are these GTA games leaving Netflix, and when?

This isn't a surprise decision; Netflix licenses games similarly to movies and TV shows. The licenses for GTA III and Vice City expire next month. A "Leaving Soon" notification will appear on the games before their removal. The initial 12-month agreement between Netflix and Rockstar Games is ending. After December 13th, these titles will no longer be accessible to Netflix subscribers.

If you're currently playing either game, you'll need to finish your adventures soon. However, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas remains available on the platform.

What happens next?

To continue playing GTA III and Vice City, you can purchase them from the Google Play Store. The Definitive Editions of both games are available individually for $4.99, or you can buy the entire trilogy for $11.99.

Unlike the surprise removal of Samurai Shodown V and WrestleQuest last year, Netflix is providing advance notice. It's interesting that Rockstar Games isn't renewing the license, especially considering Netflix gained significant subscribers in 2023 thanks to the GTA trilogy.

Rumors suggest Rockstar and Netflix are collaborating on future projects, potentially bringing remastered versions of Liberty City Stories, Vice City Stories, and Chinatown Wars to the platform. Let's hope these rumors prove true!
