"Guide to Obtaining Armadillo Scutes in Minecraft"
In the vast world of *Minecraft*, the Armadillo, a new addition with the 1.20.5 "Armored Paws" update, roams various warm biomes. This passive creature, characterized by its protective Scutes, plays a crucial role in crafting Wolf Armor, a new item designed to safeguard your canine companions. Here's a detailed guide on how to obtain Armadillo Scutes in *Minecraft*.
How to Get Armadillo Scutes in Minecraft
Armadillos are found exclusively in warm biomes, often appearing in groups of two or three. When approached hastily, they instinctively roll into a defensive ball. To prevent this, move slowly and cautiously towards them.
The biomes where Armadillos spawn include:
- Badlands
- Eroded Badlands
- Savanna
- Savanna Plateau
- Windswept Savanna
- Wooded Badlands
There are two primary methods for collecting Armadillo Scutes:
1. Watch and Wait
Similar to how Chickens lay Eggs, Armadillos drop a Scute every 5-10 minutes. This passive method requires no tools or effort, making it appealing for those looking to gather Scutes without intervention. However, it can be time-consuming and less engaging, especially if you're planning to craft multiple sets of Wolf Armor.
2. Brushing
The more favored method, brushing, involves using a crafted Brush to gently collect Scutes. A Brush, typically used for investigating suspicious sand or gravel, can be employed to obtain one Scute per brushing session with the Armadillo.
In *Minecraft*'s Java Edition, an unenchanted Brush can be used four times on an Armadillo before breaking, while in Bedrock Edition, it lasts for five uses. Two damaged Brushes can be combined for repair, and using an Anvil, two damaged Enchanted Brushes can be merged, retaining both enchantments. A Brush can be enchanted with Unbreaking, Mending, and Curse of Vanishing.
To craft a Brush, you'll need a Feather, a Copper Ingot, and a Stick, arranged vertically in the center column of the Crafting Table.
Approach the Armadillos carefully to avoid triggering their defensive roll. Once close enough, use the Brush to gently collect Scutes. With enough Brushes, you can amass a significant number of Scutes for crafting Wolf Armor.
Once you've collected the required six Scutes, you can proceed to the Crafting Table to create a suit of Wolf Armor for your loyal companion.
These are the current methods for obtaining and utilizing Armadillo Scutes in *Minecraft*. Whether you choose to wait patiently or engage directly with a Brush, you'll be equipped to craft essential items like Wolf Armor.
*Minecraft is available now.*
