Harrison Ford Joins Marvel for Fun, Unfazed by Indiana Jones 5 Flop

Harrison Ford remains unfazed by the critical and commercial flop of "Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny," succinctly stating, "s**t happens." Despite the film's estimated $100 million loss at the box office, Ford remains content with his decision to pursue the project. In an interview with The Wall Street Journal Magazine, he expressed his desire to revisit the iconic character of Indiana Jones one last time. "When [Indy] had suffered the consequences of the life that he had to live, I wanted one more chance to pick him up and shake the dust off his ass and stick him out there, bereft of some of his vigor, to see what happened," Ford explained. "I’m still happy I made that movie."

Undeterred by the setback, Ford has now joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) for the upcoming film "Captain America: Brave New World." He steps into the shoes of the late William Hurt, taking on the role of Thaddeus Ross, who transforms into Red Hulk in this installment. Ford's decision to join the MCU was driven by the fun factor rather than a detailed knowledge of his character's arc. "Why not? I saw enough Marvels to see actors that I admired having a good time," Ford remarked. He admitted to being unaware of his character's transformation into Red Hulk until later, likening the experience to life's unpredictability. "You only get so far in the kit until the last page of the instructions is missing."

"Captain America: Brave New World," set to release on February 14, will be one of the shortest MCU films and marks the first time Anthony Mackie stars as Captain America, succeeding Chris Evans' Steve Rogers. The film also promises to introduce deep-cut characters from Marvel lore, including the long-awaited appearance of The Leader, a character teased in the second MCU film, "The Incredible Hulk."
