The HP OMEN 16 gaming laptop packs everything you could want in a system priced under $1,000. It features a 16-inch 1080p 165Hz IPS display, Intel Core i7-14700HX CPU, GeForce RTX 4060 GPU, 16GB of DDR5-5600MHz RAM, and a 1TB PCIe NVMe M.2 SSD. The 14th generation Intel Core i7-14700HX processor offers a maximum turbo frequency of 5.5GHz with 20 cores and 28 threads—making it even more powerful for gaming than newer non-HX Intel Core Ultra 7 and 9 CPUs.

The GeForce RTX 4060 is an excellent match for the native 1080p (FHD) display. This GPU provides enough power to smoothly run virtually any game at this resolution, particularly when DLSS is supported. You also benefit from ample memory and storage capacity. At this price, a 512GB SSD is common, but here you get double the space.

The OMEN 16 is built with a plastic composite chassis and an aluminum lid. It feels sturdy and remains fairly portable for a gaming laptop, weighing around 5.3 pounds. HP includes a wide range of connectivity options, such as two USB-C ports with Power Delivery, two USB-A ports, HDMI 2.1, and an RJ-45 Ethernet port. The 6-cell 83Whr battery supports fast charging, reaching 50% capacity from empty in about 30 minutes.
