Indiana's Crusade to Conquer Sinister Forces
MachineGames, the studio behind Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, has confirmed a heartwarming detail: players won't be able to harm any dogs in the upcoming game. This decision reflects a commitment to family-friendly gameplay, a significant departure from the studio's previous, more violent titles. Let's explore this and other exciting game features.

A Dog-Loving Indiana Jones
While many games feature violence against animals, MachineGames has chosen a different path for their Indiana Jones adventure. Creative Director Jens Andersson explained to IGN, "Indiana Jones is a dog person." This philosophy ensures that while Indy engages in combat with human enemies, his interactions with dogs remain non-lethal. Dogs might be encountered, but players will only scare them away, a refreshing change from the animal combat seen in games like Wolfenstein.
Andersson emphasized the family-friendly nature of the Indiana Jones IP, stating, "How do we do that well? Well, these are the kind of things that we do. We have dogs as enemies, but you don’t really hurt the dogs. You scare them away."
Set in 1937, between Raiders of the Lost Ark and The Last Crusade, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle begins with Indy pursuing stolen artifacts. His journey takes him across diverse locations, from the Vatican to Egyptian pyramids and even submerged temples in Sukhothai. Indy's trusty whip serves both as a traversal tool and a weapon, allowing him to disarm and subdue human adversaries as he navigates open-world-inspired environments. Rest assured, dog lovers, no furry friends will be harmed by Indy's whip!
Indiana Jones and the Great Circle launches December 9th on Xbox Series X|S and PC, with a PS5 release planned for Spring 2025. For a deeper dive into the gameplay, check out our related article!
